LIVING WITH OPEN EYES?
Open your eyes to the astounding beauty that may be in front of you.
Weeks before my trip to Joshua Tree National Park with my cousin an acquaintance dismissed it by saying, “Beats me why you would you go to such an ugly place.” I was surprised by his easy dismissiveness given that he had never visited the park!
Instead of choosing to wonder about why such a comment had been made I felt sad about his uninformed judgment.
I didn’t think of that comment until my cousin and I were at Joshua Tree. We’d admired the almost playful beauty of the rock formations in the park; then, as we walked in the park admiring the beauty of cactus flowers and vibrant young plants in this part of the Mojave Desert we looked at each other and said, “This beauty is remarkable.”
I was reminded again of how easy it is for me or any of us to be blind to the beauty around us. I wonder whether I will choose each day to live with eyes open.
- Make an intention to live with your eyes open to all that is around you
- Pause to acknowledge each experience of unexpected beauty
Notice how your spirit is affected by living with open eyes.
