“No day shall erase you from the memory of time.”
I was at the 9/11 Memorial in New York this week and those words from Virgil are on a wall of blue tiles; one tile for each person killed and each one a different hue of blue. I’m still processing the poignant 9/11 Memorial and my emotional, spiritual and physical reactions. But the wall with Virgil’s words will not let go of me.
I’ve made a choice to allow myself to be embraced by the truth they speak.
The unexpected gift is the recalling, naming and gratitude for those who are no longer here but who quietly inhabit my life even as a whisper. No day can erase them from the memory of time. They are the unseen nourishers who have each shaped my life.
The unexpected gift from the remarkable 9/11 Memorial is the reminder that I am only because of those who have blessed my life and who continue to do so in their physical absence. Who are those people for you?
- Allow yourself to be present to the people in your life who can never be erased from the memory of time.
- Be present to them
Notice how your life is shaped, blessed and enriched by others.
