Tender moments invite you to be present to the blessings of life in the now.
I was at a dinner party and our host was serving desserts. As he cut a slice of pie he turned to his mother and asked, “Mom would you like extra whipped cream?” It was the tone of voice, the look in their eyes and their hands touching as he passed the desert plate to her. In the tender interaction between them I unexpectedly thought of my deceased parents.
I could have chosen to be stuck in a swirl regret at having lost the opportunity for such moments with my own parents.
Instead I looked at my spouse across the table as we sat in the home of two of our closest friends surrounded by other good friends. I felt deeply blessed. In that moment all I wanted was to hug each one.
I’m thankful to my friend and his mother for their gift of tenderness. Only I can choose to be present to the tender moments that will bless this day.
- Allow yourself to be tender with someone you love
- Be present to the luxuriant blessing of such a moment today
Notice how living in the now is filled with unexpected goodness!
