Wake Up Call! – Worried?

WORRIED?

Worrying squanders your life in the present.

As I walked with my dog Lucy I knew that I was not present to her or the beauty around me. I was consumed by worry. Lucy kept throwing her toy in the air and setting it in my path. She wanted to play.

I could have ignored her and allowed worry to occupy me.

Instead, as I threw Lucy’s toy and fed her her insatiable appetite for play I was smiling and marveling at the simple pleasures that make her happy. As we played in the brisk morning air I was thankful for her invitation to play.

The thing that was worrying me was still present but in the play I was reminded to walk more lightly through the day lest it be lost to something I could do little about. That afternoon as Lucy basked in the afternoon sunlight I woke her and said, “Let’s go play fetch!”

Call-to-Action:

  • Acknowledge the worry that exists
  • Be present to something in your day that reminds you of the rhythm of life alive in you

Notice how your choices inhibit or honor life in the present.
