Wakw Up Call! – Cringing to Celebrating

Your journey from cringing about qualities that define you to celebrating them is a gift to you and those around you.

A colleague in a large corporation unexpectedly thanked me for having a “kind heart and soul.” I smiled broadly and felt nourished by her words. I remembered how I used to cringe and deflect any comment about being kind. I admired kindness back then but feared it reeked of weakness

Over the years I’ve chosen to stop cringing and embrace kindness as a defining quality of my life.

In place of childhood resentment of my dad’s unfailing kindness is respect, thankfulness and admiration.

Travelling from cringing to celebrating has included a familiar journey for most of us. Kindness toward the failures and shadows of my life open up a river in which kindness can be given, received, sought and celebrated. I am nourished by the strength of kindness.
