Wale Up Call! – Keep Pushing?

KEEP PUSHING?

You will never know what you can accomplish until you give your life to achieving it.

I was talking this week with Chelsea, a college student who is a paraplegic. Thinking of her participation in the Beijing Para Olympics and her recent World Championship bronze medal and new ranking as number three in the world for the 5,000 meter track we spoke about labels that people use to describe her.

Chelsea chooses to label herself as an athlete and a person who has a disability.

In response to those who say “I don’t know how you do can do this” she says, “You may not think you can do something but be surprised about how much strength and willpower you have.” Chelsea explained her choice to run marathons, “You get to a point where you’re past all you can do and you have to keep pushing. That’s where people achieve their greatest success.”

Her passion as an athlete is infectious. I wonder where I need to keep pushing and discover that satisfaction of great accomplishment. Where do you need to keep pushing through on your passion?

Call-to-Action:

  • What labels do you use to describe yourself?
  • What accomplishment do you need to push yourself at today?

Notice how giving yourself to an accomplishment that you are passionate about enlivens you.
